Emma Raducanu may not have taken the court this weekend, but she made it clear she was cheering hard from the sidelines as Great Britain clinched a coveted spot in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

In a dramatic showdown in The Hague, Team GB edged past the Netherlands 2-1 thanks to a clutch doubles victory by Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage, who outlasted Suzan Lamens and Demi Schuurs in the deciding match. A day earlier, they also posted a 2-1 win over Germany—securing back-to-back wins and punching their ticket to the BJK Cup Finals.

“So good rooting for these girls!” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
On Instagram, she kept the energy high with a simple but excited:
“Let’s go!”

Raducanu’s Withdrawal Left a Void, but Support Remained Strong

The former US Open champion had initially been expected to compete, especially after playing a key role in leading Team GB to the semifinals last year. However, just a week before the qualifiers, Raducanu—ranked No. 47 in the world—announced her withdrawal.

Speaking to The Guardian, team captain Anne Keothavong admitted the news was tough to hear:

“Naturally, I was disappointed. But I understand where she’s coming from. She gave so much to this team last year and was a huge reason for our success. That said, I’ve got five players here who are motivated, excited, and well-prepared. I really hope Emma will be back with us for the Finals.”

While her absence was felt in The Hague, there’s little doubt that Raducanu will be a key figure when the Finals roll around later this year.

What’s Next?

With momentum on their side and a Finals berth secured, Team GB has reason to be optimistic—especially if Raducanu rejoins the fold for the final stage.
