Emma Raducanu receives brilliant response as she returns to second-hand car after Porsche setback

Emma Raducanu has been reported to be driving around in her old second-hand Dacia Sandero – and the company have came in with a brilliant offer.

The British No. 2 saw her £125,000 Porsche taken back by the German car manufacturers earlier this week.

And it has seen Raducanu blow the dust off her old Sandero, which she fell in love with after buying it second-hand four years ago.

Dacia wrote in a post on X: “Dear @EmmaRaducanu.

“Whether it’s your forehand, backhand, or Sandero keys in-hand — you know a thing or two about reliability.

“So while some brands may (double) fault and let you down, you can always trust your Sandero.

“Here’s to many more miles.”

Just days after having her Porsche taken off her by the company, it was reported that Raducanu was seen whipping around in her more modest vehicle.

In 2022, the 23-year-old was gifted a £125,000 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, which has a top speed of 102 mph.

It was part of an agreement that saw her named a global brand ambassador for Porsche following her US Open victory a year before.

But her love for her Dacia never subsided, and she said in the same year: “My dad is Romanian and a Dacia was his first car. So, yeah, I have a white Dacia Sandero.

“It was funny, I passed my test three days before the first lockdown and we sort of knew it was going into lockdown, so we needed to buy a car ASAP.

“I bought it second-hand for £5,000. I take care of her. I’m never going to get rid of it.”

While Raducanu had her Porsche stripped off her, she remains an ambassador for the car company.

A spokesperson for Porsche said: “Emma Raducanu is a global brand ambassador for Porsche and there have not been any changes within our successful partnership since it started in 2022.
