One of Emma Raducanu’s brand deals could be in trouble.
Emma Raducanu has often copped heat for her lucrative sponsorships. The Brit quickly signed big-money deals with luxury brands after winning the US Open in 2021.
But she now looks set to lose her partnership with Porsche. The German car manufacturer is already said to have taken away one of her major benefits.
Raducanu was a teenager when she became a global brand ambassador for Porsche a few months after her triumph in New York.
She was later pictured driving a 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, worth £125,000. But, according to the Daily Mail, Porsche has “taken back” the car.
An associate of Raducanu’s reportedly said the world No. 54 “no longer has a Porsche.” They noted that it “used to have pride of place at her home.”
A Porsche spokesperson also confirmed that she was no longer in possession of a car and said they loaned her one “on occasion” and on an ad-hoc basis.
But they also stated they were “very happy” with their partnership with Raducanu, confirming that she is still an ambassador.
However, the German car brand is known for being brutal with their sponsorship deals. If Raducanu does eventually lose her ambassador status, it could affect her tennis schedule.
The Brit receives a wildcard into the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix – a WTA 500 event in Stuttgart – every year as part of their deal. She’s been successful at the clay event, reaching the quarter-final in April.
But she would need to improve her ranking to get in off her own back if she is no longer awarded a free pass into the main draw.
