Riccardo Piatti, one of the people who knows Jannik Sinner best, believes the world No. 1 is capable of sweeping the remaining Grand Slam titles this year—Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Sinner trained under Piatti at the Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera from age 13 until their split in early 2022. Now, as Sinner prepares for his return to competition at the Rome Masters, Piatti is full of confidence in his former pupil’s potential to dominate the biggest stages.

After a three-month hiatus due to an agreement with WADA, Sinner is poised to return refreshed and ready to chase more glory. Despite missing four Masters 1000 events, he has held onto the No. 1 ranking as rivals like Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev have experienced their own setbacks.

Sinner began the 2025 season in stellar form, defending his Australian Open title with authority. He dropped only two sets en route to the trophy and defeated Alexander Zverev in the final to claim his third career Major at just 23 years old.

🏆 Grand Slam Aspirations

The Italian star now has his sights set on something truly historic: the Calendar Grand Slam—winning all four Majors in a single year. No man has achieved that since Rod Laver in 1969.

Sinner is already training hard for his return, practicing with Matteo Berrettini and Jack Draper at the Foro Italico as he builds momentum ahead of Roland Garros.

He came close to a breakthrough in Paris last year, reaching the semifinals before falling to Alcaraz in a five-set battle. At Wimbledon, he pushed through to the quarterfinals but struggled physically in a tight five-set loss to Medvedev, despite holding a set point in the third.

Redemption came at the US Open, where Sinner delivered on his promise, defeating Taylor Fritz in the final to claim his second Major of 2024.

“This whole situation has been unpleasant for Jannik, but he’ll definitely turn it into something positive,” said Piatti. “He has what it takes to win Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open this year.”
