Caroline Wozniacki, the former World No. 1, is preparing to welcome her third child, signaling another extended break from tennis.
The Danish star has been absent from the WTA Tour since her appearance at the 2024 US Open. Her absence led to speculation, especially after she withdrew from the 2025 Australian Open, citing struggles with rheumatoid arthritis.
Wozniacki, 34, announced the news with a lighthearted social media post:
“Officially switching to zone defense! Our family couldn’t be more excited to welcome baby #3 soon!”
The message was shared alongside a beach photo of Wozniacki with her husband, former NBA star David Lee, and their two children—Olivia (born in 2021) and James (born in 2022)—holding a baby scan.
After retiring in 2020, Wozniacki made a surprise return to tennis in 2023, following an exhibition match in 2022 against Ons Jabeur in Copenhagen, which had been delayed due to COVID-19. Her comeback saw flashes of brilliance, including back-to-back appearances in the US Open fourth round, but consistency remained elusive.
While fans hoped for a full-time return, this latest pregnancy casts doubt on whether she’ll resume her professional career. With motherhood taking center stage once more, Wozniacki’s focus now appears to be firmly on her growing family.
Congratulations to Caroline and her family!
