“He is doing extraordinary things, he is an inspiration for us” – Jasmine Paolini Makes Heartwarming Comments on Jannik Sinner After His Australia Open Heroics
Jasmine Paolini was one of the most anticipated figures at this morning’s Quirinale ceremony, which celebrated the unforgettable 2024 season of Italian tennis. The blue teams that claimed the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup had the honor of meeting President Sergio Mattarella, marking a definitive end to a historic year.
“It’s not every day you get to speak in front of him. The President is very passionate about tennis and told us that the moment when Sara (Errani) and I embraced at the Olympics was shared by all of Italy. That memory is incredible. I was really nervous before my speech; I talked about it with everyone last night. It was such an emotional experience,” said Paolini, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the WTA, during her interview with Sky Sport after addressing the ceremony.
“As for my game, let’s just say I’m working on my serve because that’s something everyone knows I need to improve. The rest, though, we’ll keep a secret (laughs). Coming back here feels a bit like home, especially since the Internazionali d’Italia is such a great tournament. The city is amazing, and we have fantastic fans. I’m sure the energy will be even bigger this year, but I have no doubts about that,” she added.
Regarding the success of world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who was absent from the ceremony: “Jannik deserves nothing but praise. He’s doing extraordinary things not just for Italian tennis, but for the sport worldwide. His achievements are impressive and serve as an inspiration for all of us. He’s also a great guy, and it’s wonderful to have him with us on the Italian team. We try to learn as much as we can from him.”
