Holger Rune Reflects on His Indian Wells Run: “I’ve Been Good at Finding Solutions”

Holger Rune continues to impress at Indian Wells 2025, securing his fourth consecutive victory and firmly establishing himself as a contender for the title. Adapting to the Challenge

“I have been very good today in finding solutions when needed,” Rune said in his post-match press conference.

Facing a tough challenge against Tallon Griekspoor, Rune acknowledged the need to adjust his tactics mid-match.

“Tallon is a great player, and no matter what I did, he had an answer to everything. I had to change my game plan and start playing differently. Once I saw that my new approach was making more of an impact, I stuck with it. I managed to play in a way that disrupted his rhythm, and that’s what mattered in the end.”

Strengthening His Mental Game

Rune also highlighted his mental resilience, recalling a similar test in a previous match against Ugo Humbert.

“There were moments when things weren’t going my way, like when I was down a break in the third set. But I focused on finding solutions and fighting hard. Being ahead in the first set gave my opponent confidence, so I had to dig deep to turn the match around. I’m very happy with how I handled the challenge today—I played good tennis.”

A Passion for Tennis, but Not for Scouting

While Rune enjoys watching tennis, he admitted that he leaves match analysis to his coach and analyst.

“I don’t do the scouting myself; my team takes care of that. When I say I love watching tennis, it’s more for enjoyment rather than preparation. We put a lot of energy into game plans and what I need to do each day.”

Now an established presence on the ATP circuit, Rune has faced most of his competitors multiple times, making continuous improvement essential.

“At this point, there aren’t many players I haven’t faced, so we know each other’s games well. That’s why it’s crucial to keep evolving—to make things as difficult as possible for my opponents.”

With his semi-final berth secured, Rune’s ability to adapt and grow will be key as he looks to claim the Indian Wells title.
