“I Feel Hunted by Sickness” — Rune Posts Honest Update

Taking to Instagram, Rune shared an emotional story with fans, expressing how devastated he was to exit the tournament prematurely.

“I feel hunted with sickness. Unbearable not to be able to finish up in one of my absolute favourite tournaments,” he wrote.

Rune’s Battle with Illness and Self-Doubt

“Honestly, I deserved to be in the top 7 or 8 because of the results I had between late 2022 and early 2023,” Rune explained.
“But getting to No. 4 wasn’t really about my own progress—it was a gift due to other top players not defending their points. I wasn’t ready for that spot. My game and my mindset weren’t at a top-4 level yet.”

Rune’s candidness has resonated with fans who admire his honesty and determination to grow, despite recent challenges.

Looking Ahead

While this latest setback in Monte Carlo is clearly painful, Rune will look to recover fully and refocus as the clay season unfolds. With his grit and raw talent, the young Dane still has plenty of time to bounce back and cement his place among the ATP elite.
