“I don’t have an issue with that”: Andy Murray confirms no bitterness towards Emma Raducanu after Wimbledon withdrawal

Former world number one Andy Murray has revealed that he is not ‘bitter’ towards Britain’s young tennis star Emma Raducanu after her sudden withdrawal from the Wimbledon’s mixed category. The 37-year-old, who is often regarded as the greatest British player in the history of men’s tennis in the Open era in the singles category, recently announced that he will be retiring from the sport after the Paris Olympics.

Murray’s announcement came after months of speculation as he suggested this year that he would consider quitting professional tennis after Wimbledon 2024 and the Summer Olympics. Since that announcement, every tennis fan has been waiting to see Murray play one last time at Wimbledon, where he has a fabulous record and has lifted the title twice.

His ambitions, however, suffered a major blow when he was injured during the Queen’s ATP Championship. This injury forced him to not only withdraw from the competition but also undergo back surgery. That surgery ruled him out of the singles draw, but the former world number one decided to take part in the doubles category with his brother Jamie Murray and in the mixed doubles category with Britain’s Raducanu.

In the doubles category, his journey was short-lived as he and his brother were knocked out from the first round. However, in the mixed doubles category, he could not participate as Raducanu withdrew at the last minute because of a wrist injury. Murray was recently quoted in a report in which he stated that he is not ‘bitter’ towards Britain’s young tennis player and believes that everyone is entitled to look after their best interest.
