‘I know that I’ve got them’ – Luke Littler reveals secret psychology behind darts success and World Championship win
Luke Littler has revealed the mental tactics that contribute to his remarkable success in darts.
Since his explosive arrival on the scene at the World Darts Championship in late 2023, Littler has rapidly become one of the most prominent figures in the sport. He capped off his sensational run by securing his first world title, defeating his close rival, Michael van Gerwen, 7-3 at Alexandra Palace.
Littler’s exceptional form has continued throughout this year, and he is currently on a fourteen-game winning streak. Following his World Championship victory, “The Nuke” has added two Premier League Darts nightly wins, the UK Open, and the Belgian Open to his trophy cabinet.
Now, he’s given fans a glimpse into the psychological strategies he employs during matches.
Littler explained, “If the first few legs go on and I get that two-to-three leg gap, I can see opponents throwing their darts away. Their heads are gone, and that’s when I can put pressure on them. That spurs me on because if they get their head down then I know that I’ve got them.”
The teenager further emphasized his competitive drive, stating, “The hunger is in myself. You want to go and win everything.”
Littler’s next appearance will be on Thursday, for night six of the Premier League Darts in Nottingham, where he will face Luke Humphries in the quarter-finals.
