As Alexander Zverev begins his 2025 Munich Open campaign, the German star is candid about his recent struggles. Currently facing Alexandre Muller in the first round, Zverev reflected on his dip in form in a pre-tournament interview with Tennis.com.

“Of course, I haven’t played particularly well. I lost to a lot of guys I should’ve beaten,” Zverev admitted. “But I still believe I can perform on the big stage. I played in the Australian Open final just three months ago. I haven’t forgotten how to win.”

The 27-year-old’s ambitions to claim the World No. 1 ranking during the Golden Swing earlier this year fell short, leaving him with a sense of missed opportunity. Since then, results haven’t gone his way—but he remains optimistic.

“The last few weeks have been tough, but I’m still confident. I feel like I’m starting to play better. I think winning one or two tight matches could turn things around,” he added. “I still believe I’ll be playing great tennis by the time Paris comes. That’s where my main focus is.”

Zverev, who has twice won the title in Munich, hopes a strong showing on home soil can reignite his season as he transitions into the clay-court swing.
