Iga Swiatek recently shared with her followers how she’s preparing to return to the court following her heartbreaking exit from the 2025 Australian Open. The World No. 2 was defeated in the semifinals by Madison Keys, who went on to win her first Grand Slam title.
Swiatek posted a video on Instagram showing her back in training for upcoming tournaments, as she sets her sights on claiming her sixth Major title. Her caption read: “Back at itttt.”
In the Australian Open semifinals, Swiatek put up a strong fight but was outmatched by Keys’ impressive performance. She lost in a dramatic third-set tiebreaker, 7-5, 1-6, 6-7(8).
Reflecting on the match in her post-match press conference, Swiatek said, “This year was different, and it definitely gives me a positive vibe for the rest of the season. Obviously, I wanted more. I’ve already played in semifinals, and I wanted to win this one. But I think if I keep working hard, I’ll have more chances in the future, and maybe I’ll use them as I didn’t use my match point today.”
Swiatek faced a minor injury concern earlier in the year during her match against Coco Gauff in the United Cup but later confirmed it was just fatigue. Despite dealing with other challenges, including overcoming doping allegations last season, Swiatek remains optimistic about her 2025 campaign.
Looking ahead, Swiatek will compete in the Middle East, starting with the Qatar TotalEnergies Open on February 9, followed by the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on February 16, 2025.
Swiatek and World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka have secured top seedings for both WTA 1000 events, although their official participation is yet to be confirmed.
Last season, Swiatek had a strong run in these tournaments, reaching the semifinals in Dubai, where she was defeated by Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya. However, she claimed the Qatar Open title in 2024, winning in straight sets against Elena Rybakina.
