Alex de Minaur has made a heartfelt statement to his new No.1 fan after upsetting Daniil Medvedev to become the first Australian man to make the French Open quarter-finals in two decades.
The Sydneysider came from a set down on Monday to defeat the former US Open champ Medvedev 4-6 6-2 6-1 6-3 to make it to just his second quarter-final in a Grand Slam.
After his last match, De Minaur made a plea to social media to find out the name of a young fan who braved the elements to cheer him on.
‘I need to find the name of this legend!!! Message me on instagram, I need you for the next round,’ wrote de Minaur, after Roland Garros had posted film of the youngster supporting him on Court 14.
