Jannik Sinner Announces Surprise Management Change Amid Suspension

Although Jannik Sinner has been absent from the tennis scene in recent weeks, the Italian became a major talking point on Monday after announcing a change in his management team.

The World No.1 is currently serving a three-month suspension after testing positive for Clostebol, a banned substance. His ban, which began in February, will end in May, just in time for his return at the French Open.

Unexpected Split from Longtime Management

For the past five years, Sinner had been managed by StarWing Sports and agent Lawrence Frankopan, who played a key role in handling his commercial and career affairs as he climbed to the top of the tennis world.

However, in a surprise announcement on Monday, Sinner revealed that he will no longer be working with StarWing Sports and will instead begin a collaboration with AVIMA Sports and Business Management, effective immediately.

Despite the unexpected split, both Sinner and Frankopan exchanged respectful statements, making it clear there was no bad blood between them.

Sinner and Frankopan Part Ways on Good Terms

Frankopan addressed the transition, explaining that his commitments to StarWing Sports prevented him from working exclusively with AVIMA, but he remains proud of what he and Sinner accomplished together:

“Given my long-term commitments to StarWing Sports, I was unable to accept their offer to work exclusively for AVIMA, but I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a talent like Jannik and proud of what we achieved together. I wish Jannik all the best and much success in his future endeavors.”

Sinner also expressed gratitude for his former team’s support:

“Lawrence Frankopan and his team have supported me so much, and that will forever remain with me. I’d like to thank them for their dedication throughout the years.”

With his return to competition just around the corner and a new management team in place, all eyes will be on Sinner as he prepares to step back onto the court in May.
