“No match is ever a guarantee,” Sinner said. “Whether you’re up against world No. 100 or No. 150, things can get tight—especially when you’re not at 100 percent. You never really know what someone might be dealing with off the court—be it personal issues, pressure from chasing the No. 1 spot, or concerns for loved ones. These things weigh on a player.”

The Italian star acknowledged the shifts that come with the clay-court season, as the tour heads to Monte Carlo.

“Now we move onto clay. Carlos is certainly a favorite on this surface, and Zverev has also performed really well on it—he was close to becoming world No. 1 not long ago and has had great success at Roland Garros,” Sinner added. “It’s a fresh chapter, and anything can happen.”

Carlos Alcaraz, one of Sinner’s top rivals on tour, has recently opened up about the mental strain that comes with being in the spotlight.

“A lot of people keep telling me I could become No. 1 if Jannik doesn’t play,” Alcaraz admitted. “That pressure—it’s starting to get to me.”

As the ATP season intensifies, all eyes will be on Monte Carlo, where these three contenders will be aiming to find form, fight pressure, and push for glory.
