This season has been a mixed bag for the Italian starJannik Sinner. There were a few silver linings, as he claimed two Grand Slam titles, $6Mn prize money from the win at Six Kings Slam, and of course, some quality time with his family and girlfriend, Anna Kalinskaya amid the dark clouds of controversy. While Kalinskaya has already wrapped up her 2024 season, as she gets ready for the holiday season, Sinner has yet to put his racquet down. However, the virus has certainly acted as a roadblock in his preparations for the ATP finals. But this hasn’t stopped the Italian tennis star from planning the Christmas holidays. If the words of the Ubi tennis’ editor-in-chief, Giovanni Pelazzo, are to be believed (quoted from the morning edition of @Gazzetta_it), the Bolzano tourist board has come to his aid as he plans his Christmas.

While reporting an improvement in Sinner’s health, Palazzo stated Sinner’s plan for upcoming ATP finals at Turin and Christmas. When it comes to the latter part, Sinner has his holidays planned out even before the season is over. Pelazzo stated, “Christmas with his parents before leaving for Australia. In the meantime, the Bolzano tourist board has invited Jannik and his girlfriend Kalinskaya to the Christmas markets.” However, the Italian star is yet to confirm these plans.

The Bolzano tourist board has expressed their wishes to have the tennis couple during Christmas. The Board president, Roland Buratti said, “It would be great to have Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya with us, if their commitments allow it, too: maybe in 2024 it would be half a miracle if they came to visit us, but sooner or later.” A good holiday after ATP finals sounds right for the Italian star to relax and regroup himself to defend his title at the Australian Open, and mark a happy end to the 2024 season, drawing the curtains over the tumultuous and testing times, with his family and loved ones by his side.

A tale of ebbs and flows: Jannik Sinner’s 2024 season recap

Jannik Sinner started the 2024 season by claiming his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open. He didn’t stop there, as he claimed the Rotterdam title, Miami Open, Halle Open, Cincinnati Masters, and finally his 2nd Grand Slam title at the US Open. To top it all, Sinner also claimed the exhibition event in Saudi Arabia and pocketed $6Mn. However, this was not all. Sinner also opened up about his relationship with the Russian tennis star, Anna Kalinskaya, and shared a few cozy moments with her on his social media. However, a career-threatening controversy marked these wins and beautiful moments.

Sinner got entangled in a doping controversy around the end of March. It wasn’t just the controversy that sent the tennis world into a frenzy, but the issue of the lack of transparency. Sinner’s doping violations came to light months after the violation first took place, during the Cincinnati Open. Not everyone was convinced about the procedure that was followed, because the news was made public only after an independent tribunal upheld Sinner’s appeal and let him off without a ban. But despite the ITIA giving a clean chit to the Italian, the WADA contested the judgment, vying for a year more ban for Sinner

Amid all that, the Italian stayed consistent in his performance on the court. He credited his loved ones, particularly his coach Darren Cahill, for helping him get through the dark times. He said, “I have to thank my team, who were close to me all the time. For example, Darren Cahill came to me. He was with me, and my dad came and thanks to them, I felt safe and protected. I always say it’s thanks to the people who are close to me because without them all, this wouldn’t be possible.” And not to forget, Anna Kalinskaya was by his side, during his successful US Open run.

After such a rollercoaster of a season, it’s only right that the Italian tennis star takes a break with his family and his girlfriend, as the season approaches its closure.
