Jannik Sinner Stays Active During Three-Month Suspension
Jannik Sinner may be sidelined from competitive tennis, but that hasn’t stopped him from keeping busy. The world No. 1, currently serving a three-month suspension, has been making the most of his time away from the sport—exploring other athletic pursuits, making a fashion statement, and staying in top shape for his return.
Suspension Details & WADA Case Resolution
Sinner’s ban, which runs from February 9 to May 4, stems from a case resolution agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The suspension means he will miss four Masters 1000 events—Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and Madrid.
His doping ordeal began last March when he tested positive twice for clostebol, a prohibited substance. However, an independent tribunal ruled that Sinner bore “no fault or negligence,” determining the contamination came from his former physiotherapist. While he was initially allowed to continue playing, WADA appealed the ruling, arguing that Sinner held some responsibility for negligence within his entourage. The case was set to go before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in April, but instead, Sinner accepted a three-month ban to settle the matter.
During this period, the 23-year-old is barred from competing, attending official tournaments, or training at any facility affiliated with a tennis federation.
Exploring Other Passions: Skiing, Golf & Fashion
Despite his absence from the tour, Sinner has embraced other interests. The Italian recently hit the slopes in Sexten, revisiting his childhood passion for skiing. Once a junior champion in the sport, he gave it up to focus on tennis, but with his suspension temporarily removing the risk of mid-season injuries, he seized the rare opportunity to ski again.
Sinner has also spent time playing golf, spotted at the Golf & Country Club in Südtirol. His golf skills became a topic of conversation at the Australian Open when Carlos Alcaraz humorously rated Sinner’s swing as the weakest among top players. “I’m sorry, it’s probably selfish, but I’m going to put myself first, second Rafa, and third probably Jannik. Sorry about it, it’s not personal,” Alcaraz joked.
Beyond sports, Sinner made an appearance at Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2025 show at Milan Fashion Week, sitting front row alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. As a brand ambassador for Gucci, he used his time away from competition to step into the world of high fashion.
Training Plans During Suspension
While Sinner is enjoying his time off, he remains committed to staying in peak condition. He has been training at private clubs, including the Monte Carlo Country Club, where he resides. However, he won’t be allowed to practice there while the venue hosts an ATP event in April.
His fitness coach, Marco Panichi, emphasized that the break offers an opportunity for targeted improvement. “Having such a long period allows us to work on certain aspects that we want to improve,” Panichi told Sky Sports Italy. “It is important to know that we have time to polish details. I think it is a great morale boost for the whole team.”
Despite the setback, Sinner appears to be making the most of his suspension—balancing relaxation, fitness, and personal growth. With his return set for May, fans eagerly await his comeback to competitive action.
