After skipping Madrid, Pegula is out of Rome and there are no guarantees that she will be able to play the French Open either.
Jessica Pegula has announced that she is also skipping the Rome Open and also revealed that she may be forced to miss the French Open.
Pegula, ranked at No. 5 in the world, is now missing the two biggest clay tournaments leading up to the French Open as she was also forced to withdraw from this past Madrid Open. As the reason for Pegula’s Madrid withdrawal, an injury sustained in practice was listed – but the American didn’t reveal what exactly happened.
In the latest update, Pegula shared that she is actually doing well in her recovery but noted that it is a slow process and that’s why she may not be ready to compete at the second Grand Slam of the year.
“Hi guys – quick update – Will miss Rome and possibly RG. I actually feel really good but have to work back into training at a snail’s pace,” Pegula announced on her Instagram Story.
