Pegula on Possible Doubles Return with Gauff

Speaking at a press conference, Pegula was asked about potentially partnering with Gauff in Rome, after Gauff expressed interest in playing doubles to bring more fun into her schedule.

“With me?” Pegula initially responded when the topic came up. Upon being told that Gauff hadn’t specified a partner, Pegula remained open-minded, saying, “I don’t know. I think maybe, we will see. I haven’t talked to her about it. I love playing doubles, but it gets really hard with the schedule sometimes. But in Europe, with the long two-week events, I think it’s actually a smart thing to play. I don’t know if she is asking to play with me, but we will see.”

Pegula and Gauff’s Doubles History

The pair have a history of playing together, including at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they were top seeds. They won their first-round match against Australians Ellen Perez and Daria Saville but were eliminated in the second round by Czech duo Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova in a tiebreaker.

With the Italian Open on the horizon in May, the possibility of a Pegula-Gauff reunion remains uncertain—but not off the table.
