With Jannik Sinner currently sidelined from the tour, comparisons between him and Carlos Alcaraz continue to spark debate. One of the latest voices to weigh in is Brett Connors, son of tennis legend Jimmy Connors.

Speaking on the “Advantage Connors” podcast, Brett praised Alcaraz’s explosive talent and ranked him as the most exciting player on tour when in form.

“I feel like his best tennis is probably the best on tour,” Connors said. “No fault to Sinner—I just think that Carlos, when he’s on, hits some of the craziest shots you’ll ever see” (timestamp 13:55).

This perspective adds to the ongoing discussion about which of the two young stars has the higher ceiling. While Alcaraz is known for his electrifying shot-making, Sinner’s relentless consistency and recent rise to the top of the ATP rankings have also earned him widespread admiration.

Earlier this week, Sinner’s coach Simone Vagnozzi offered a more measured take:

“Who is stronger—Alcaraz or Sinner? We’ll find out at the end of their careers by counting the titles. They’re both extraordinary players, but it depends on the surface, the weather, and the time of day they step on court,” said Vagnozzi (translated from Italian).

With both players expected to lead men’s tennis for years to come, the comparisons are inevitable—and always compelling.
