Nick Kyrgios Takes Another Dig at Jannik Sinner in Response to Alexandre Müller’s Doping Test Complaints

Nick Kyrgios has once again taken aim at world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, using a response to Alexandre Müller’s doping test frustrations as an opportunity to fire another jab at the Italian.

Sinner recently agreed to a three-month suspension with WADA following a doping controversy, sidelining him until May 2025. His expected return at the Rome Open means he won’t miss any Grand Slam events, as he will still compete at the French Open.

Meanwhile, Müller, who is competing at the Rio Open, voiced his frustrations over late-night doping tests. After defeating eighth seed Tomás Martín Etcheverry in the Round of 16, the Frenchman took to social media to complain about the timing of the testing process.

“Doping test when we finish at midnight… come on… ATP Tour,” Müller posted on X.

Kyrgios quickly chimed in, referencing Sinner’s case with a sarcastic remark:

“Just say you ‘don’t know’ and that it was completely your team’s fault if there are steroids in there 😂,” he wrote.

The comment alluded to Sinner’s explanation for his positive Clostebol test. The ITIA ruled that Sinner bore no negligence or fault after he claimed the contamination came from his physiotherapist, who had used a product containing Clostebol on his own hands. Without wearing gloves, he may have unknowingly transferred a minuscule amount of the banned substance to Sinner.

Although WADA initially sought a longer suspension of up to two years, they later withdrew their appeal, settling on a three-month ban starting February 9.

Despite the suspension, Sinner will only drop 1,800 ranking points—an amount that will not jeopardize his No. 1 status when he returns to competition.
