Out injured after last year’s US Open, Muchova had wrist surgery earlier this year only returning to the tour in June.

In a staggering few months of hitting the ground running, Muchova sailed to the last four at the US Open, before an appearance in the Beijing final a fortnight ago.

Slowly working her way back up to her career-high of world number eight, the Czech has revealed the aspects she most admires about some of her rivals.

The Czech’s large arsenal of shots has guided her straight back to the top.

Sat just outside the top 30, Muchova’s impressive march has allowed many to see a truly unique player on the tour.

Nonetheless, Muchova has still chosen some qualities from her fellow players on the tour that she would love to have herself.

The Czech chose to have Aryna Sabalenka’s forehand and her serve, while elected Iga Swiatek’s movement and mentality.

As the clear number one and two this year, Muchova’s selections feel really rather sensible!

The Czech also chose to incorporate a handful of qualities from Victoria Azarenka, Daria Kasatkina. However, as a true artist at the net, she selected herself for the best WTA volleyer.

Despite Muchova wanting to borrow some of the Belarusian’s big weapons, the Czech is the only person to beat Sabalenka in the last 21 matches she’s played.

Karolina Muchova could challenge at the Australian Open

Beaten by an impressive Coco Gauff performance in Beijing, Muchova has still produced a stunning couple of months on tour.

Possibly going in as a seed in Melbourne, the Czech has another opportunity to flourish.

Her mix of power, touch, and variety allows her to adapt well to hard courts, making her a tough opponent for any top player.

After reaching the final of the 2023 French Open, Muchova has shown she can handle pressure in big tournaments.

If she remains injury-free, her combination of finesse and strategy could make her a real threat in Melbourne.
