Katie Boulter’s Playful Anniversary Dig at Alex de Minaur
Katie Boulter couldn’t resist teasing her fiancé, Alex de Minaur, after he shared a sweet anniversary post celebrating their five years together.
The Australian tennis star marked the milestone with a heartfelt Instagram post, featuring a smiley snapshot of the couple and a simple caption: “5 years” with a love heart emoji. But Boulter, known for her cheeky sense of humor, saw an opportunity to poke fun at one of her partner’s lesser-known habits.
“Been a loooong 5 years of snoring,” she quipped in the comments, adding a yawning emoji.
Her playful jab quickly caught the attention of fellow WTA players, with world No. 33 Anna Kalinskaya responding “HAHAHA”, while Australian star Priscilla Hon simply wrote: “dead.”
A Tennis Power Couple’s Journey to Engagement
The British No. 1 and her fiancé celebrated their anniversary in Miami, following early exits at Indian Wells. Boulter put up a fight against No. 7 seed Elena Rybakina but fell in the second round, while De Minaur’s run ended in the round of 16.
The couple took their relationship to the next level during the off-season, when De Minaur finally popped the question. They later announced their engagement in their usual fun-loving style on Instagram, with Boulter posting a beaming selfie—her stunning engagement ring on full display.
“We’ve been keeping a small secret…” she captioned the post.
Love and Success on the Court
A few weeks later, De Minaur reached his first Australian Open quarter-final, and when asked whether his engagement had played a role in his on-court success, he didn’t hesitate.
“I don’t believe in coincidences! I think when you’re happy off the court, you play some good tennis on the court,” he said with a grin.
The Aussie pocketed £325k for his deep run in Melbourne—certainly helpful for the wedding budget. However, the couple’s mixed doubles campaign at the Eisenhower Cup—a pre-Indian Wells exhibition event—didn’t quite add to their funds, as their hopes were thwarted early.
Still, with five years of love, laughter, and a little snoring, the tennis duo continue to be one of the sport’s most beloved couples—both on and off the court.
