Leylah Fernandez Launches Major Partnership to Support Youth Through Tennis
Leylah Fernandez has announced a new partnership between her organization, the Leylah Annie & Family Foundation, and First Serve Miami. This marks the first major collaboration for her foundation since its launch.
The 2021 US Open runner-up will lead a comprehensive program designed to teach tennis to children and young people aged 5 to 18, while also promoting personal and academic development in underprivileged communities.
While competing in the Miami Open this week, Fernandez secured a victory over Alycia Parks but was eliminated in the third round by local favorite Ashlyn Krueger (1-6, 7-5). However, she made the most of her time in Miami by participating in the official launch of this meaningful initiative.
“This partnership truly means a lot to me, as it brings together two things I’m incredibly passionate about – giving back to the community and sharing the love of tennis,” said Fernandez, who resides in Miami. “Together, we’ll empower local youth by providing them with the tools to grow both on and off the court.”
Angie Rivera, Executive Director of First Serve Miami, echoed Fernandez’s enthusiasm, emphasizing the program’s focus on sports development, leadership, and teamwork.
“First Serve Miami is thrilled to join forces with the Leylah Annie & Family Foundation to create a lasting impact for Miami’s youth. Our shared vision will help provide these young people with the tools they need to succeed in all areas of life,” Rivera stated.
This initiative highlights Fernandez’s commitment to making a difference beyond the tennis court, using her platform to inspire and uplift the next generation.
