A recent conversation on talkSPORT has seen Nathan Aspinall jokingly label teenage darts prodigy Luke Littler as a “lightweight” when it comes to drinking with the seasoned tour pros.

Littler, who burst onto the scene by reaching the World Championship final in 2024 and later winning the title in 2025, has quickly become a major name in darts. Known for his impressive ability to hit 180s and secure huge checkouts under pressure, Littler first made headlines at just 16, when he joined the ranks of the touring professionals.

During a chat with Hawksbee and Jacobs, Aspinall explained how Littler’s off-stage habits have evolved over the past year. “He used to retreat to his room to play on his PlayStation after his darts sessions,” Aspinall noted. “Now, he’s joining us at the hotel bar, playing cards, and socializing with the crew. He’s really come out of his shell. Of course, with everything that’s been thrown his way, he’s had to grow up fast. He might have a couple of [Strongbow] Dark Fruits—he’s only 18, so a few pints and he’s done.”

Littlermania has not only boosted his profile but has also increased the popularity of the sport, leading to bigger sponsorship deals and prize money. For instance, the winner of the 2026 World Championship is set to receive a historic £1million prize—a 50% increase from the £500,000 awarded to Littler when he won in January. Aspinall shared that the tour’s players are buzzing with excitement over the new payout, which many see as recognition of their hard work.
