Luke Humphries sends World Masters Darts crowd wild as he hits sensational nine-darter to send Luke Littler warning
LUKE HUMPHRIES brought the World Masters crowd to its feet after producing a sensational nine-darter — and in the process fired a clear warning to Luke Littler.
The Leeds ace was also the last player to achieve perfection on TV, having struck a nine-dart leg at the Grand Slam in November 2025.
Humphries was facing Luke Woodhouse in the last-16 clash when he stepped up and delivered darts history once again.
He opened the leg with back-to-back 180s, leaving himself perfectly placed for the sport’s ultimate finish.
Cool Hand then sealed the moment in style — treble 20, treble 12, and double 12 — sparking wild celebrations from the stunned Milton Keynes crowd.
The magical moment comes after Humphries recently admitted he had overhauled his fitness routine.
The former world champion confessed he had “let himself go,” something he believes contributed to a dip in form.
Humphries suffered a quarter-final exit at the World Darts Championship, losing to eventual runner-up Gian van Veen.
He also fell at the same stage in both the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Darts Masters, allowing Littler to leapfrog him as world No1.
But Humphries insists he has refocused since his Worlds disappointment, saying he became unhappy with his diet and lifestyle.
Now, he feels he is “back to where he was four years ago” as he looks to rediscover top form and reclaim the No1 spot from Littler.
Meanwhile, Littler has also been dazzling at the tournament after cruising to a 4-1 victory over Ross Smith.
At one point, the 19-year-old was averaging a huge 117 — comfortably above the tournament record of 112 set last year by Jonny Clayton.
He eventually finished with a 107 average and is now just three wins away from lifting the Masters, one of only two trophies he has yet to collect in just over two years.
Littler said:
“I played very well today. Far better than last night. That’s what I had to do against Ross.
“The stats show we had a brilliant game once again. I’m just glad to get through.
“Even after the first two sets I knew we were going off for a break. In my mind I didn’t want to.
“I just wanted to carry on with the game. I think that is where Ross got his set from. I managed to get over the line in the end.
“With Ross two years ago in the World Series he missed a dart at double four and I went on to win the title.
“Mike missed a double yesterday, who knows.”
Littler will now face Josh Rock in tomorrow’s quarter-final.
