Littler vs Price: Mutual Respect Amid Rivalry as Premier League Clash Looms
Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price will renew their budding rivalry on Thursday night in Manchester as they face off in the quarter-finals of Night 10 in the PDC Premier League of Darts.
Despite Littler dominating the league table with four night wins under his belt, it’s Price who holds the psychological edge—beating the teenage world champion in their last six encounters, including this season’s meetings in Dublin and Nottingham.
Littler himself recently admitted that Price had earned a “bogey player” reputation in their clashes:
“It’s not like he’s in my head, but of course, I want to get a win over him. I don’t enjoy losing, and whenever we meet, Gerwyn tends to play the better darts.”
Still, Littler played down the pressure ahead of their next encounter:
“I know he’s got the record and knows how to beat me, but I’m not obsessing over it. I’ll approach it the same way I do every game—get on stage, focus on winning the opener, and get the two points.”
Their last duel came on Night 6 in Nottingham, where Price emerged a 6–3 winner. While Price previously hinted he “might be in Luke’s head,” he has since praised the 18-year-old prodigy extensively.
“Luke is the best player in the world right now—and he will be for years,” said Price. “He might even go on to beat Phil Taylor’s 16 world titles. He’s taken darts to a new level, and honestly, he deserves all the accolades.”
The Welshman added:
“Everyone needs to raise their game, because in a few years, Luke might be untouchable.”
As it stands, Littler is riding high after recent wins in Cardiff and Newcastle, extending his lead at the top. Price, meanwhile, reached the final last week but fell to an inspired Stephen Bunting performance.
On Thursday night, the winner of Price vs. Littler will face either Stephen Bunting or world number one Luke Humphries in the semi-final
