Littler’s Support for Bunting Amid Losing Streak

Darts prodigy Luke Littler has expressed support for Stephen Bunting, urging him to stay positive despite his troubling Premier League form.

Bunting, 39, has endured a brutal eight-match losing streak in this year’s tournament, sitting bottom of the table with zero points.

A Struggle for Form

The world No.6, famous for his walk-on to David Guetta’s “Titanium”, has struggled to find his rhythm, failing to secure a single win. Littler, 18, who recently defeated Bunting 6-0 in just ten minutes, believes the key to a turnaround is confidence.

“Obviously, Steve’s struggling at the moment,” Littler said.
“Once he gets that first win, I’m sure he’ll pick up momentum in the Premier League. I think we’re about halfway through now. He’s putting too much pressure on himself after eight weeks without a win.”

Potential Unwanted Record

Bunting is now just two defeats away from equalling the worst losing streak in Premier League history, set by Peter Wright (13 matches across 2019-2020).

A loss to Nathan Aspinall next Thursday in Berlin (Week 9) would put him level with “Snakebite’s” record.

“If I were Stephen, I’d say just relax and focus on that first win.
Once he gets that feeling again, I think he’ll go on to win a night.”

Bunting last won a Premier League match in 2015, beating Gary Anderson 7-1 in Cardiff. In 2020, he made a one-off appearance in Liverpool, drawing 6-6 with Rob Cross.

Luke Littler Chasing History

As defending Premier League champion, Littler currently leads the table with 26 points after victories in Glasgow, Brighton, Cardiff, and Newcastle.

  • No player has ever won five nights in a single Premier League season.
  • Littler is also aiming to break the all-time points record (40), which he shares with Jonny Clayton (2022).
  • At just 18 years old, he has the potential to surpass Michael van Gerwen’s seven Premier League titles.

“If I’m still around, I’ll have a go at breaking it.
I want to finish top again and set new records.”
