Luke Littler ‘gives it back to’ fans with brutal Nottingham Forest jibe after raging at Premier League darts whistlers

Luke Littler insists he has proven he can “give it back to the fans” whenever they try to put him off with whistles.

The 19-year-old star grew frustrated during his tense 6–5 quarter-final victory over Gerwyn Price on Night Four of the Premier League Darts in Nottingham.

Despite posting a stunning 108.66 average across the 11 legs, Littler had to deal with crowd interference at key moments. During one visit to double top, two darts missed the mark after a spectator inside the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham began whistling in an effort to distract him.

The interruption clearly irritated the two-time world champion. But when Littler nailed a crucial checkout soon after, he responded by waving his arms up and down toward the crowd.

Whistling from spectators has long been a difficult issue to control in darts, and it can easily disrupt a player’s rhythm at the oche.

Speaking afterwards on Sky Sports, Littler admitted that earlier in his career those situations were much harder to handle.

He said:
“From last year, maybe two years ago, it was very difficult.

“But yeah, I showed there that I can give it back to the fans. Go on and win games and forget about it.

“At one point I thought it was going to ruin the game because it was an incredible match, but I’m just glad I got the job done.”

Littler also teased the crowd later by holding up his fingers to mock Nottingham Forest after their 1-0 defeat to FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League last-16 tie.

There was no repeat of the whistling drama in the semi-finals, where Littler was edged out 6–5 by Luke Humphries. The 31-year-old sealed victory with his fourth match dart, finishing in style with a brilliant 128 checkout.

It marked Humphries’ first win over his young rival since the 2025 Premier League final at The O2 Arena.

With his night in Nottingham over, Littler can now turn his attention to a trip to the famous Cheltenham Festival, where he plans to watch Friday’s prestigious Cheltenham Gold Cup alongside girlfriend Faith.

Meanwhile, Jonny Clayton went on to claim the Night Four title in Nottingham, dominating Humphries 6–1 in the final.
