Nathan Aspinall Calls Luke Littler a ‘Lightweight’ Over Drinking Habits

Nathan Aspinall has jokingly labeled Luke Littler a “lightweight” after revealing the teen darts sensation struggles to handle more than four pints.

The former UK Open champion shared insights into Littler’s growing confidence among his peers, noting that the 18-year-old is now more social, spending time with fellow players instead of retreating to his room.

“He’s coming out of his shell now. He used to just play his darts and go straight back to his room to play on his PlayStation. Now, he’s joining us at the hotel bar, playing cards, and socializing.”

Despite Littler’s increased comfort in social settings, Aspinall teased that his drinking tolerance remains low.

“He’ll have a couple of Dark Fruits. He’s a bit of a lightweight, but he’s only 18. He’ll have like four pints, and that’s him done.”

Littler’s Night to Forget in Berlin

Littler’s off-stage habits were a lighthearted distraction from his struggles on the board, as he suffered a shocking 6-2 first-round defeat to Chris Dobey on Night Nine of the Premier League.

Meanwhile, darts veteran Vincent van der Voort has criticized the overwhelming support Littler receives, claiming too many players are acting like “fanboys.”

“Every little thing, they’re giving him fist bumps and smiles. Some players show up and act like the perfect son-in-law, but that doesn’t bring much excitement. There are too many Littler fanboys right now.”

Aspinall: ‘I’ve Been Too Nice’ to Littler

Aspinall admitted that he’s sometimes been too respectful toward Littler in competition:

“I’ve known Luke since he was 11 or 12, and I’m genuinely happy for what he’s achieved. But I have to remember—I’m here to win for myself. I’ve got to start beating him.”

He also praised Littler’s mental toughness, acknowledging the intense media attention the teenager faces.

“At 17 or 18, with all the media commitments, it’s a lot. Unlike footballers, we don’t get media trained. He’s been thrown into the deep end, appearing on shows like A League of Their Own. He gets a lot of respect, and he deserves it.”
