Luke Littler Determined to End Losing Streak Against Gerwyn Price
Luke Littler has admitted he is eager to end his losing streak against Gerwyn Price after securing another Premier League Darts victory in Newcastle.
The 18-year-old extended his lead at the top of the table to eight points after defeating Luke Humphries in the final, following wins over Stephen Bunting and Rob Cross. Littler remains the favorite to claim the title for the second consecutive year, thanks to his dominant performances throughout the tournament.
However, one major challenge remains—his struggles against Price, who has beaten him in their last six encounters. The Welshman has become something of a ‘bogey player’ for the young star, with Littler’s last victory over him coming nearly a year ago.
Speaking to Sports Boom, Littler expressed his frustration:
“I wanted Gerwyn [Price] to beat Rob [Cross]. Once again, I wanted to play Gezzy this week. I’ve got him in Manchester again in the coming weeks.”
Despite Price’s recent dominance, Littler remains confident:
“It’s not that he’s in my head or anything, but I’d obviously like to get a win over him sooner rather than later. I just don’t like being on the losing side.”
Littler continued his fine form on Thursday night, overpowering Humphries 6-1 to claim his fourth Premier League nightly win. The teenager’s performance once again showcased his immense talent, with his relentless scoring making him the standout player of the competition.
After the match, Littler revealed that Humphries admitted feeling fatigued, which may have contributed to his defeat.
“I’m happy with my performances tonight. I felt a bit tired, but I’m just glad to get over the winning line in the final. After the match, Luke said he was tired, but I just had to stick in there.”
With 26 points from eight nights of action, Littler leads the standings ahead of Humphries (18 points), with Michael van Gerwen (13) and Price (12) completing the top four.
As the tournament continues, all eyes will be on whether Littler can finally break his losing streak against Price and cement his dominance in the world of darts.
