Littler Unaware of Reported £1 Million Prize Money Increase

Prior to the night’s matches, Luke Humphries seemingly leaked that the 2026 World Darts Championship winner would receive an increased prize of £1 million, doubling the current £500,000 reward.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Humphries stated:

“For me, it doesn’t matter what happens in the next six, seven, eight months—it’s all about the World Championships. We all know that the world champion is going to get a million quid, so whoever wins that is going to be world number one.”

When asked about the rumored prize increase, Littler revealed that he has not been officially informed but acknowledged that such a change would mark a significant milestone for the sport.

“I’ve not been told anything,” Littler told SportsBoom.com.

“But obviously it’s been going around for many years. It’s been £500,000 for the past however many years, but I think that’s the next big step for us players.”

“It would be, yeah [a big statement]. Whoever wins it, they’ll obviously go straight to No.1. So, if it’s this year or next year, I do feel 99.9 percent sure it’ll happen.”

Littler Aiming for Premier League Playoffs

Beyond the World Championship, Littler remains focused on securing a top spot in the Premier League and booking his place in the playoffs at The O2 in May.

“I just want to get to The O2 as quickly as possible. I have put myself in a really good position, and I do want to finish No.1.”

Despite his dominant performances, Littler also stressed the importance of rest and recovery.

“I have not picked my darts up since last Thursday—I had a week off to chill. But to come here, win, and be six points clear, I am comfortable.”

“All players have to have a rest, and after tonight’s performance, I’ll have another week off!”

With his lead extended at the top of the Premier League standings, Littler continues to establish himself as the player to beat as the competition progresses.
