Phil Taylor – The Undisputed Greatest

Widely regarded as the best darts player in history, Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor dominated the sport for three decades. His staggering resume includes 214 professional tournament wins, a record 85 major titles, and an unprecedented 16 World Championships. Taylor’s dominance set the benchmark for future generations, making him a natural choice for Littler’s list.

Michael van Gerwen – A Modern Legend

Next on Littler’s list was Michael van Gerwen, one of the most successful players in recent history. Van Gerwen, currently ranked World No. 3, held the World No. 1 ranking from 2014 to 2021 and boasts 47 PDC major titles—second only to Taylor. The Dutchman is a three-time PDC World Champion and remains a dominant force in the sport.

Raymond van Barneveld – The Dutch Icon

For his third pick, Littler chose Raymond van Barneveld, a player who helped revolutionize darts in the Netherlands. A five-time World Champion, van Barneveld was ranked World No. 1 in 2008 and is credited with growing the sport’s popularity across Europe. Currently ranked World No. 34, ‘Barney’ remains one of the most beloved figures in darts history.

Adrian Lewis – A Natural Talent

Rounding out Littler’s list was Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis, a two-time PDC World Champion. Lewis also won the European Championship and UK Open during his career and has long been considered one of the most naturally gifted players to ever throw a dart.

Luke Littler’s Rapid Rise in Darts

Littler’s own journey in darts has been extraordinary. He began competing in British Darts Organisation (BDO) and World Darts Federation (WDF) events at just 12 years old and won his first senior title by 14. His meteoric rise culminated in winning the 2025 PDC World Championship, making him the youngest world champion in history at just 17 years and 347 days old.
