Luke Littler delivered a spectacular nine-darter as he defeated Michael van Gerwen in the Premier League Night 7 final—but his success wasn’t the result of relentless practice.

Littler secured a 6-4 victory over Van Gerwen, the same opponent he overcame in January’s PDC World Championship final, to claim his third Premier League triumph of the season.

Having already lifted the title on Night 2 and Night 5, ‘The Nuke’ is in a strong position to defend his Premier League crown, which he won last year by beating world No. 1 Luke Humphries in the final.

The teenager also produced a nine-darter in that championship match, leading many to assume he spends countless hours practicing. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Does Luke Littler Practice?

After losing the Night 6 final 6-3 to Gerwyn Price, Littler opted for an extended break from darts.

“I haven’t picked up my darts since last Thursday—I took a week off to relax. But to come here, win, and be six points clear, I feel comfortable,” he told Sky Sports.

“Every player needs a rest, and after tonight’s performance, I’ll take another week off! My goal is to reach the O2 [for the play-offs in May] as quickly as possible.

“I’ve put myself in a great position, and I want to finish No. 1. Last year, I wasn’t focused on that, but this year, I want to stay on top. My doubles were solid tonight, but there’s more to come.”

In contrast, Van Gerwen competed in Players Championship 7 but was eliminated in the first round by Niko Springer in Germany.

‘Mighty Mike’ will have a chance to bounce back when the European Tour heads to Göttingen this weekend, where Price, Humphries, Nathan Aspinall, Chris Dobey, and Rob Cross will also be in action.

Meanwhile, Littler is once again putting his feet up—if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
