Luke Littler reveals plan for £1m prize money and explains financial goal after World Darts Championship win
Luke Littler has opened up about how he plans to handle his £1 million World Darts Championship winnings and outlined a clear financial goal following his historic Ally Pally triumph.
The 18-year-old sensation made darts history by successfully defending his Sid Waddell Trophy with a dominant victory in the final, becoming the first player to land the PDC’s seven-figure winner’s prize. But despite the life-changing sum, Littler insists he has no intention of splashing the cash recklessly.
Speaking after the final, the world No.1 explained that his priority is being sensible with his money and setting himself up for the long term, rather than making extravagant purchases.
Littler revealed that much of his prize money will be saved or invested, stressing the importance of financial security at such a young age. While he admitted he may enjoy a few modest treats, he made it clear that protecting his future is the main objective.
“I don’t need to go mad,” Littler said. “The main thing is making sure I’m set for the future and doing things the right way.”
The teenage star has already spoken about wanting to keep his life as normal as possible despite his rapid rise and growing wealth, continuing to live modestly and remain close to family and friends. That mindset, he believes, has played a key role in his success on the oche.
Littler also explained that having clear financial goals helps him stay focused, allowing him to concentrate on darts rather than distractions away from the sport. With advisers around him, he plans to manage his earnings carefully as his career continues to accelerate.
Although the £1 million prize represents a landmark moment for darts, Littler insists the motivation was never about the money. Retaining the world title, cementing his legacy and continuing to challenge himself at the highest level remain his driving forces.
With back-to-back world championships secured before his 20th birthday and a sensible plan already in place, Luke Littler is showing that his maturity off the stage is matching his brilliance on it — a combination that could keep him at the top of the sport for many years to come.
