Luke Littler Criticizes “Pretty Bad” Glasgow Crowd After Premier League Victory

Luke Littler expressed his frustration with the Glasgow crowd after securing his first Premier League nightly win of the 2025 season. The 17-year-old triumphed over Rob Cross, Michael van Gerwen, and world No.1 Luke Humphries to claim victory on Night Two, but the evening was overshadowed by crowd trouble.

Throughout the night, boos and whistles disrupted play, forcing referees and security to intervene. Cross was booed while holding match darts, and both Humphries and Littler were visibly affected by whistling during the final.

Littler: “It Made It Even Worse”

After sealing his win, Littler addressed the crowd interference in his post-match interview:

“There were a few in particular that were doing it when Luke [Humphries] was throwing. Kirk [Bevins, the referee] told them to be quiet, and it made it even worse.

“I missed doubles, Luke breaks at 5-4. I’m just like, ‘Kirk, you’ve made it even worse for me, I’m 5-4 down.’ But I broke back and held my throw again.”

When asked if he preferred referees to stay out of it, he added:

“If it’s the same as it was when Kirk said it, then yeah, leave it. Obviously, they’ve got to step in and say something, but yeah, it was pretty bad. But I got the win.”

Gerwyn Price Claps Back at the Crowd

Littler wasn’t the only one affected by the atmosphere. In a separate incident, Gerwyn Price responded to crowd whistling during his semi-final against Humphries. After landing a 180—which received a surprisingly muted reaction—the Welshman turned to the audience and mocked them with a whistle of his own.

Fans and Broadcasters React to the Chaos

The disruptive behavior drew criticism from fans and commentators alike. Sky Sports presenter Abigail Davies took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent her frustration:

“Yet again, well done to those who paid good money to go and watch the best darts players in the world put on a show and actively contributed to them not delivering their absolute best by whistling.

“Really clever, that. There is no way you can be a fan of the sport if you do that.”

What’s Next?

The Premier League action now moves to Dublin, followed by Exeter, Brighton, and Nottingham in the coming weeks.
