Luke Littler insists fans won’t see a repeat of the emotional scenes that followed his last World Championship appearance, vowing to stay composed as he gears up for another crack at the Alexandra Palace stage — now knowing exactly who awaits him in the opening round.

The 18-year-old sensation, whose meteoric rise has transformed the sport over the past year, was visibly overcome with emotion during his breakout run at Ally Pally. But with his first-round opponent for the upcoming World Championship now confirmed, Littler says he’s stepping onto the iconic stage “a different player, and a stronger person”.

“Last year everything hit me at once — the atmosphere, the support, the whole occasion,” he said.
“I couldn’t hold the tears back. But this time I’m ready for it. I won’t break like that again.”

His confirmed opponent — a dangerous unseeded qualifier hungry to make a statement — has already been labelled a potential banana skin. But Littler was quick to dismiss any suggestion of nerves creeping in, insisting he’s sharper than ever after adding more titles to his resume throughout the season.

“It doesn’t matter who I play,” he added.
“I’ve worked hard for this and I know how to handle myself on that stage now. I’m going there to win — simple as.”

Fans have eagerly awaited Littler’s return to Ally Pally, with many believing this could be the year he finally lifts the Sid Waddell Trophy. And while emotions may still run high, the teenager is determined that the only tears he sheds this time will be victory ones.
