The Spaniard has a serious work ethic, and is known for being a perfectionist. He is all about those minute details to try and give his side as big an advantage as possible.

City fans are no strangers to seeing Pep being very animated on the touchline, and he is not afraid to remonstrate with his players on the pitch just after the final.

This kind of thing is what separates him from most of the others, and is why he is as good as he is.

Jeremy Doku has just finished his first season working under the great man – and he shared something which really emphasises just how passionate Pep is.

Doku has borne the brunt of Pep’s frustrations at times.

That was to be expected coming into a new league as a young player and into a top-quality side.

But it isn’t just on matchday that Pep will tell a player where he has gone wrong, or what he could have done better.

Doku said (Bild): “It’s so incredibly intense. He can tell you days after the game what you could have done better in the fifth minute.

“That shows his passion. Anyone who plays under him becomes a perfectionist.

“Even if you score two goals, he tells you what you need to work on.”

Doku was then asked if Pep had been in contact with him while at Euro 2024 to give him any pointers. The former Rennes star joked: “So far I haven’t received any news from him. But I’m sure he watched the games when he’s not golfing.”

Pep’s relentlessness is incredible

So Pep will sometimes come to players days after games and tell them where they went wrong at a specific point in a match – which really does just show how much he cares.

The margins in top-level football ae so fine these days, and Pep knows that things like this matter to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

He has never been one to let complacency creep in, and is always hounding his players to be the best versions of themselves.

It is things like this that make him who he is, and when the time comes for him to walk way from football management, there is a good chance he will be seen by most as the greatest of all time.
