Mirra Andreeva shared an emotional message after her match at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, reacting to her sister Erika’s unexpected retirement from professional tennis—even though she won her match.
“We share the same room, so of course I knew what she’s been going through,” Mirra said. “Honestly, I have weird emotions. I should be happy I won the match, but I’m super sad it ended like this. I’m sure she’ll take her time, recover, and come back as strong as she can.”
The younger Andreeva reflected on her sister’s influence, crediting Erika for helping shape her own career.
“Honestly, if she had started playing before me, I don’t think I’d be doing this well so fast. She played some of the early tournaments that I didn’t have to, and she really showed me the way. Without her, I’m not sure I’d even be playing in this tournament this year.”
Later in the day, Mirra added a lighter moment during her press interaction by serenading her coach, Conchita Martinez, with a birthday song.
“Can we sing Happy Birthday? Because it’s her birthday today and I really want to embarrass her a little,” Mirra joked.
The rising star’s emotional and heartfelt responses gave fans a glimpse into her close-knit bond with Erika and the team behind her growing success.
