As Jannik Sinner prepares to make his long-awaited return to the ATP Tour following his 2025 Australian Open triumph and subsequent suspension, his coach Simone Vagnozzi has offered insight into the next steps in the 23-year-old’s development—particularly on clay.

In a recent interview with La Repubblica (via Sky Sports Italy), Vagnozzi praised Sinner’s evolution while outlining where the world No. 1 still has room to grow.

“What can Jannik still improve? Details,” said Vagnozzi.
“When I first met him, he was already a very good player, but lacked tactical vision. Today, he’s grown tactically, improved his serve, and he’s more comfortable approaching the net. But he can still work on variety and build more confidence coming forward on clay.”

Beyond the technical commentary, Vagnozzi also lauded Sinner’s humility.

“What I appreciate about him is that he never takes himself too seriously. He doesn’t think he’s special. He’s not arrogant.”

Ready for Clay Season Return

Sinner will step back into ATP competition for the first time since his Melbourne triumph earlier this year. All eyes are on the Italian as he reenters the fold, with expectations sky-high as he begins his clay court campaign.

Still ranked No. 1, Sinner’s calm demeanor and relentless work ethic remain key talking points as he sharpens his game ahead of a stacked calendar that includes the Rome Masters and the French Open.
