Novak Djokovic Breaks Roger Federer’s All-Time Record, Advances to Miami Open Final
Novak Djokovic secured a dominant victory over Grigor Dimitrov, winning 6-2, 6-3 in the Miami Open semifinals. This achievement not only puts him in the tournament final but also allows him to break a historic record previously held by Roger Federer.
At 37 years and 10 months old, Djokovic is now the oldest player in history to reach a Masters 1000 final, surpassing Federer’s previous record of 37 years and 7 months, set at the 2019 Miami Open.
Aiming for Another Historic Feat
Djokovic now sets his sights on becoming the oldest Masters 1000 champion. Federer won the Miami Open final in 2019 at age 37, defeating John Isner. If Djokovic wins the title this Sunday, he will rewrite history once again.
Djokovic’s 2025 Season So Far
Despite his Miami Open success, Djokovic’s 2025 season has been filled with ups and downs. His best result before this tournament was a semifinal finish at the Australian Open, where he lost to World No. 2 Alexander Zverev.
Other setbacks this season include:
- Brisbane: Quarterfinal loss to Reilly Opelka
- Doha & Indian Wells: Early exits against Matteo Berrettini and Botic van de Zandschulp
Chasing His 100th Title
Beyond the Miami Open trophy, Djokovic has another major milestone within reach: 100 career titles. If he wins on Sunday, he will join an elite club that only includes:
- Jimmy Connors (109 titles)
- Roger Federer (103 titles)
This would make Djokovic just the third player in ATP history to reach the century mark in titles.
