The Indiana Fever defeated the Chicago Sky to earn their second win of the WNBA season on Saturday afternoon, but the bigger topic of the day has been an incident involving Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.
Clark was pushed to the ground by the Sky’s Chennedy Carter in the game, a move that Clark had no way to react to as she was looking the other way.
The conversation has gone viral on social media, with Carter even liking posts asking her to push Clark to the ground again.
Fans from all around the sports world have weighed in, including golf influencer Paige Spiranac.
“Imagine bringing millions of new fans to the game which in turn will make every player more money and yet they treat you like this. A rising tide lifts all boats,” Spiranac said about the play.
Her comments are similar to those made by former Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart on Saturday.
“You can call it what you want but the jealousy toward someone who literally is changing the game for women’s basketball and putting more money in everyone’s pockets is astonishing. Next level jealousy. Keep being you Goat!,” Leinart said.
Clark and the Fever got the last laugh on Saturday with the win, their first home victory of the year.
Clark was effective in multiple areas, filling the stat sheet with points, rebounds and assists in the win.
The Fever used a total team effort in their second win of the season, as all five starters scored at least 10 points.
The Fever will play the second game in a back-to-back on Sunday against one of last season’s finalists, the New York Liberty.
