Earlier this week golf and movie fans received some incredible news they’ve been waiting nearly three decades for: the sequel to ‘Happy Gilmore’ is officially in the works.
On Wednesday afternoon Netflix confirmed the sequel is coming and Hollywood star Adam Sandler will reprise his role as the titular character. “Happy Gilmore is back! Adam Sandler will reprise his iconic role in a brand new movie coming to Netflix,” Netflix announced.
The news first leaked earlier this year thanks to actor Christopher McDonald, who plays Shooter McGavin. “I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,’” McDonald said. “I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that?’ and he shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.”
With the film officially in the works, golf influencer Paige Spiranac is doing her best to make the shoot for the film.
“Time to go to your happy place,” she said in the caption of a photo recreating one of the most iconic scenes of the movie.
