Phil “The Power” Taylor holds a record that no dart player – not Luke Littler, not Luke Humphries, not anyone – can ever match on live television: a perfect 240 score with three darts.
How Did It Happen?
It was during the 1993 UK Matchplay at the Aquarius Club in Chesterfield, where Taylor faced Jocky Wilson on a special, short-lived Harrows Quadro board. This experimental board had a quadruple scoring ring placed between the treble and the outer bull.
- Hitting the Quad 20 was worth 80 points, not 60.
- So, three perfect darts in the Quad 20 scored a mind-blowing 240.
Taylor managed it twice during that event, becoming the only player ever filmed hitting 240 on TV. The referee’s booming call of “TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY!” remains one of the most iconic sounds in darts history.
Why Littler (or Anyone) Can’t Do It
After 1993, Quadro boards were banned for being too confusing and sparking too many disputes. All modern PDC and WDF matches now use standard boards with a maximum score of 180 (three treble 20s).
Even the highest checkout in today’s game, the famous 170 (T20-T20-Bull), can’t come close.
- Littler’s best: 170 (multiple times in 2025, including the Premier League).
- He’s also checked out 164, 160, 152, and 143, but 240 is physically impossible on a modern board.

A 30-second blast of pure 90s chaos: the crowd erupts, and Jocky Wilson just laughs in disbelief.
Taylor’s Reflection (2024 Interview)
“I’d love to see Littler try it – but he can’t! That board’s in a museum now.
240 was mad – felt like cheating!”
Littler’s Top TV Checkouts (2025)

Fun Fact
The highest checkout ever possible on the Quadro board was 210 (Quad 20 + Quad 20 + Bull) – and yes, Taylor hit that too.
In Short
- Phil Taylor: 240 on Quadro board (1993) ✅
- Luke Littler: Can’t be done – banned 32 years ago ❌
Taylor’s 240 remains an unbreakable piece of darts history. Littler can own the 180s – but The Power will forever keep the 240 crown.
