The 27-year-old Spaniard reached her first-ever Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open, showing she’s still got it. However, after that, things took a downturn. She had to retire mid-match in her quarterfinal against Daria Saville in Merida, then missed Indian Wells altogether. After a promising win in Miami over Clara Tauson, she withdrew from her next match.
Despite the setbacks, Badosa’s fans remain loyal. During a Q&A session on Instagram, a fan asked her about the craziest fan experience. Badosa’s response was simple yet shocking: “A tattoo. Love my fans.” Yes, someone had permanently inked their admiration for her!

After her second-round win in Merida against Jaqueline Cristian, Badosa reflected on her fans’ dedication. She shared a sweet message in her on-court interview, mentioning that her fans in Spain were staying up late to watch her match, which began at 8:30 PM local time in Mexico—3:30 AM in Spain. She expressed, “I know there’s people in Spain watching, so I want to make them go to sleep early today.”
Although Badosa’s recent injury has been frustrating, she hasn’t given up. She’s even set her sights on returning to action soon.
Paula Badosa’s Comeback Plans
Badosa has faced significant challenges, including a stress fracture in 2023 that led doctors to suggest retirement. However, she made a remarkable comeback in 2024, reaching deep runs in Cincinnati and the U.S. Open, while also winning the Washington Open. From being outside the top 100, she fought her way back to World No. 11.
In a recent interview with El Larguero, Badosa shared her positive outlook on her recovery. She revealed, “I’m doing well. I’m trying to stay positive, put things in perspective, and I’m doing fine. Physically, I’ve had every test possible.”
Her latest injury, a small hernia, has raised concerns, but Badosa reassured fans it wasn’t as serious as her previous stress fracture. “This time, I was more scared than I should have been,” she said, adding that she would be back in Madrid for the WTA 1000 event, which kicks off on April 22.
