Stefanos Tsitsipas’ sister Elisavet reacts to his girlfriend Paula Badosa’s latest photodump as she copes with Indian Wells setback
Elisavet Tsitsipa Shows Support for Paula Badosa Amid Indian Wells Withdrawal
Paula Badosa may have withdrawn from the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, but she’s still making the most of her time off the court. The Spaniard shared a series of photos on Instagram, featuring moments from her shopping trips, training sessions, and time spent with friends and her team.
Among the many reactions to her post, one stood out—Elisavet Tsitsipa, sister of Stefanos Tsitsipas, showed her love and support with a comment, highlighting the close bond between their families.
Badosa, who made a strong comeback by reaching the Australian Open semi-finals earlier this year, was back in the WTA top 10 after more than a year. However, her momentum was halted when she retired injured in the Merida Open quarter-finals against Daria Saville last month. She made every effort to recover in time for Indian Wells but ultimately had to pull out.
Stefanos Tsitsipas Thriving at Indian Wells
While Badosa focuses on her recovery, Stefanos Tsitsipas is making strides at Indian Wells. The Greek star delivered a commanding performance against Matteo Berrettini, winning in straight sets to reach the fourth round. Up next, he faces Holger Rune on Tuesday, with a spot in the quarter-finals on the line.
Despite a challenging 2023 season—where he fell outside the top 10 for the first time since 2019 and missed qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals—Tsitsipas has started 2024 on a stronger note. Last month, he claimed his first-ever ATP 500 title on hardcourt by winning the Dubai Open. His success has propelled him to eighth in the Live ATP Rankings, with the potential to move up to seventh if he beats Rune.
Tsitsipas and Badosa Bond Over Cooking
Off the court, Tsitsipas is embracing a new hobby—cooking with Paula Badosa. After his win over Berrettini, the World No. 9 shared in his on-court interview that he’s been enjoying learning to cook, thanks to his girlfriend.
“Lately, a lot of cooking. I enjoy cooking. I have a lovely girlfriend who started cooking for me. I’m having a great time cooking and chatting at the same time.”
Meanwhile, Badosa is set to fall out of the top 10 due to her absence at Indian Wells. It’s a stark contrast to last year, when she was outside the top 100, having missed half the season due to a back injury.
However, Indian Wells holds a special place in Badosa’s career. She won the 2021 title, defeating former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka in a thrilling final. With her strong performances earlier this season, she’ll be looking to regain momentum once she returns to full fitness.
