Alex de Minaur secured one of his biggest paydays of 2025 after defending his UTS Grand Final title in London, defeating Casper Ruud in a high-energy finale at the Copper Box Arena.

A lively crowd enjoyed the trademark UTS format—four timed quarters, one-serve points, non-stop noise—and the tournament’s two highest-ranked ATP players delivered a final worthy of the occasion. De Minaur came out on top once again, pocketing a remarkable $640,000 for three days of action.

The prize is slightly less than the $727,500 he earned at the ATP Finals but surpasses his US Open quarter-final earnings of $660,000 earlier in the year. With his wedding to British star Katie Boulter planned for next year, the sizeable purse adds to a memorable end to his season.

De Minaur: “London feels like home now”

Reflecting on yet another UTS triumph, De Minaur said:

“It’s amazing to win here again. London is special for me — it’s my home now. I’ve had some tough matches this week and Casper in the final is always a challenge, so it’s great to come through.”

He added that rest would be short-lived:

“I might take Monday off, but then it’s straight back into training for next season.”

Why UTS suits De Minaur perfectly

De Minaur has become one of the stars of the UTS format, and he explained why its fast pace plays to his strengths:

“I’ve enjoyed every UTS event I’ve played. Having only one serve changes your mindset, and I like adapting to that.
The noise and chaos actually help me — it means I don’t get distracted by small sounds like you do in traditional tennis.”

Ruud: “He played much better”

Casper Ruud, who made his first UTS final after a dramatic sudden-death win over Andrey Rublev, admitted he was simply outplayed.

“He played better, much better,” Ruud said.
“He hits so flat, so deep. These conditions suit him. There’s a reason he keeps winning this event.”

Mouratoglou: “De Minaur is the best player ever in this format”

UTS founder Patrick Mouratoglou praised both finalists and celebrated another strong year for the growing global format.

“We can say Alex de Minaur is the best UTS player ever, at least for now. His results speak for themselves — he’s always so competitive.”

Mouratoglou also highlighted the success of the 2025 Tour, which expanded into Latin America and Asia and continued to draw younger audiences, with sell-out venues across the calendar.

Two events are already scheduled for 2026, with the Grand Final expected to return to London next December.
