They’ll be joined by Casper “The Ice Man” Ruud, a three-time Final Four contender, and Ugo “The Commander” Humbert, a former UTS finalist. The wildcard in the mix is Alexei “The Sniper” Popyrin, making his long-awaited return after last competing in UTS back in 2020.

Race for UTS History: Can Rublev or De Minaur Secure a Third Title?

No player has ever won three UTS tournaments—but that could change in Nîmes.

Both Rublev and De Minaur arrive with two titles each, looking to etch their names in the record books with a historic third.

Rublev was the first to claim two UTS crowns, dominating at UTS Frankfurt 2023 and UTS Oslo 2024. The Russian also reached the semi-finals of the 2023 Grand Final but fell short in 2024’s round-robin stage. This time, he enters the tournament with a new coaching partnership alongside former world No. 1 Marat Safin, who will be mic’d up on the sidelines, giving fans exclusive insights.

De Minaur’s UTS journey has been a steady climb. After winning UTS 3 Antwerp (2020), he returned in 2024, reaching the final in Oslo and the semi-finals in New York before securing his second title at the Grand Final in London.

The Rising Threat: Can Machac Go Back-to-Back?

While Rublev and De Minaur are clear favorites, Tomas “The Air Machete” Machac is a serious contender. The Czech star burst onto the UTS scene earlier this year, storming to victory in Guadalajara. If he continues this momentum in Nîmes, he could become the first-ever back-to-back UTS champion.

What’s Next?

With history on the line and a loaded field of elite competitors, Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes is set to deliver an electrifying weekend of tennis. Will Rublev or De Minaur claim a record-breaking third title, or will a new champion emerge?

Stay tuned for all the action from Nîmes!
