Luke Littler’s dominance in the world of darts continues unabated. Just three days following his Premier League victory in Brighton and a week after his UK Open triumph, the eighteen-year-old world champion has secured yet another title. He successfully defended his Belgian Darts Open title in Wieze, defeating local favorite Mike De Decker 8-5.
This victory marks Littler’s thirteenth Professional Darts Corporation title in fourteen months, extending his unbeaten streak to fourteen matches. Following his win, he unequivocally stated that Belgium warrants a place on the Premier League calendar. “I am very happy to retain the title in front of these great fans,” Littler declared. “I said it last year there should be a Premier League here.”
The reigning world champion, who recently added the UK Open title to his accolades, is currently performing at the peak of his abilities. His statistics in the final were, once again, remarkable: with a fifty-three percent finishing percentage and exceptional scoring prowess, he proved too formidable for De Decker. “I think on my throw I was really good, but Mike on his throw he was good at times. But I had to get in the lead and hit the winning double.”
Despite his overwhelming series of victories, Littler maintains a humble demeanor. “I said after the World Championships if I do not win anything throughout the whole year then I am still a World Champion,” he explained. “But I am obviously happy to win the UK Open and come back here and do it back-to-back. Now it is ProTours and back to the Premier League.”
Littler’s schedule offers little respite. On Monday, “The Nuke” will return to the United Kingdom, immediately proceeding to Leicester. There, the next two Players Championship tournaments are scheduled for March eleventh and twelfth. Subsequently, the eighteen-year-old sensation must travel to Nottingham, where the sixth round of the Premier League Darts will be contested on Thursday night. Currently, Littler holds the second position in the Premier League standings, trailing leader Luke Humphries by two points.
