A First Set to Forget, A Second Set Battle

Navone dominated the opening set, racing to a 6-1 victory in just over 30 minutes as Rune struggled to find his rhythm.

The second set was far more competitive, with both players holding serve throughout. Rune appeared to settle into the contest, and with the score at 5-5, 30-0 in his favor, play was halted due to a spectator falling ill. The ten-minute delay did not rattle Rune, who held serve upon resumption to go up 6-5.

Tiebreak Troubles and Costly Errors

With momentum swinging in Navone’s favor, the match headed into a tiebreak, where Rune’s unforced errors proved decisive. Fittingly, the match ended with one final mistake from Rune, sealing his frustrating exit in Argentina’s capital.

A tournament meant to be a clay-court confidence boost ahead of the European swing ends in disappointment for Rune, who now looks ahead to his next opportunity to regain form.
